Stephen Hawking là nhà khoa học nổi tiếng nhất trên hành tinh. Hawking nổi tiếng trong lĩnh vực vật lí khi ông đưa ra bằng chứng toán học chứng minh cho học thuyết Big Bang. Hawking nhận thấy rằng để hiểu được hoàn toàn về vũ trụ thì ông sẽ phải tìm ra bí mật về hố đen.

UFO Files: UFOs Then and Now Cause for Alarm

UFOs: Then and Now? Cause for Alarm is the first episode of the first season of UFO Files. UFO incidents from Roswell to Washington to London to Nova Scotia make some people wonder what the government's involvement is in UFO research.

In the summer of 1952 witnesses claimed to see UFOs over the skies of Washington D.C. It alarmed nearly everyone, including the government who sent military aircraft to intercept the unauthorized objects which invaded airspace. Later, they would claim that the objects were in fact atmospheric anamolies which their radar operators mistook for objects.

In Shag Harbor, Nova Scotia on October 4, 1967 witnesses throughout the town saw a UFO flying in the air and then crashing into the waters and disappearing. The Canadian officials admitted that they had no explanation for the event, and that a UFO was involved.

In Bentwaters Air Base, near London, in December of 1980 UFOs were spotted in the woods near the base on several nights. Colonel Halt was an eyewitness and claimed to see three separate objects in the sky hovering above the trees. The government claimed that the sightings were caused by atmospheric conditions coupled with a nearby lighthouse. However, it does not satisfy UFO researchers who point to high radiation levels at the time.

The most famous UFO incident occurred in Roswell, New Mexico in July of 1947. Although the government claimed to solve the case, that the object was a weather balloon, they reopened the case in 1994. The famous Area 51 housed many experimental military aircraft such as the stealth bomber that people could easily mistake for UFOs.

History Channel: UFO Hunters - The UFO Before Roswell

UFOs seem to malfunction with about the same frequency as automobiles on a California Freeway. On 21 June Dahl reported a UFO with an apparent mechanical difficulty. Thirteen days later, on the 4th of July, a UFO crashed at Roswell. One might suspect that of all the UFOs in the universe, the one most likely to crash is the one that had exhibited prior mechanical trouble.

UFO lore often mentions the "jump-start" maneuver. Sometimes it produces successful results, sometimes it ends in disaster. The maneuver begins when one craft appears in trouble and decends towards the earth in a "falling leaf" motion. A second craft approaches, and "kisses" the first hull to hull. With this "kiss" an immediate effect is noted.

Do vậy, điều các nhà khoa học đã và đang tìm kiếm là tác động của gia tốc trọng trường của chúng, tác động của các ngôi sao đang lao vào chúng với tốc độ khủng khiếp. Điều họ vừa tìm ra thực sự phi thường - hơn bất cứ ai có thể tưởng tượng chứ không chỉ là bằng chứng rằng những quái vật khổng lồ hung ác này tồn tại… Nhưng từ trước tới nay, chúng tồn tại ở từng thiên hà riêng biệt mà các nhà khoa học đã từng hướng ống kính tới. Nhà thiên văn học Andrea Ghez đã và đang nghiên cứu trung tâm của thiên hà Milky Way đã 5 năm nay. This two-part scientific detective tale tells the story of a remarkable group of pioneers who wanted to reach the ultimate extreme: absolute zero, a place so cold that the physical world as we know it doesn't exist, electricity flows without resistance, fluids defy gravity and the speed of light can be reduced to 38 miles per hour.

Each film features a strange cast of eccentric characters, including: Clarence Birds Eye; Frederic 'Ice King' Tudor, who founded an empire harvesting ice; and James Dewar, who almost drove himself crazy by trying to liquefy hydrogen.

Absolute zero became the Holy Grail of temperature physicists and is considered the gateway to many new technologies, such as nano-construction, neurological networks and quantum computing. The possibilities, it seems, are limitless.

Part 1: Conquest of Cold
Chronicles the major discoveries leading towards the mastery of cold, beginning with King James I's court magician, Cornelius Drebbel, who managed to air condition the largest interior space in the British Isles in 1620. Other stories will include the first "natural philosopher," Robert Boyle, a founder of the Royal Society in Great Britain; the Grand Duke Ferdinand II de Medici's involvement in the creation of the first thermometer; the establishment of the laws of thermodynamics by three young scientists, Sadi Carnot, James Joule and William Thomson; and Michael Faraday's critical achievement in liquefying several other gases which set the stage for the commercial application of cold to refrigeration and air conditioning.

Artist Brion Gysin developed the Dream Machine. The device has in its core a 100-watt light bulb, which is surrounded by a spinning open column with windows to allow the light to shine through. To be experienced with ones eyes closed, the Dream Machine has a flickering effect of light and dark, much like a strobe light. The experience has been described as hypnotic or hallucinogenic. Some have called the Dream Machine a drug-less high. Gysin, through archival interviews, many of the Dream Machine's users, some of whom are friends of Gysin, and scientists tell of their experiences with the machine and speculate on its physiological effects.
